The coolest track in Germany

Originally the plan was just to built a road safety centre. Now, on this site near Hohenstein-Ernstthal (near Chemnitz), the German heat for the moto-GP has been held here very successfully for some years.

Up to two years ago, the whole pit area was only set up for the German Grand Prix. The rest of the time this area was used for safety training practice runs. Like the pit area, the Grand Prix course too was only available for the motorcycle world championship and the DTM.

Now, for the last couple of years the redesigned 3800 metre-long GP course has been available to us. The pit area with paddock is new and excellent. What is special about the Sachsenring is the steep inclines and drops. Slow “endless” bends and then the new very fast track section. In the whole moto-GP circus there is no track with steeper drops than those here at Sachsenring. For many this is the longest left-hand bend in the world, for others simply the coolest track in Germany.

We hold instruction and perfection trainings at Sachsenring.

Here you can print out a plan of the track.

Checklist:

  • The whole paddock is tarred making camping very difficult. But you can make wooden slats for the four sides of an igloo tent and weight them down with car, motorcycle and trailer. Electricity connections are available; please bring blue 220 V ECE plugs. The sanitation facilities are in good condition and also open through the night.
  • The paddock is accessible from 19.00 hours on the evening before events. After the last day of an event the paddock must be vacated immediately.
  • There is a public fuel station approx. 2 kilometres outside the paddock.
  • In the pit area there is one catering unit. From 8 am there is coffee and at lunchtime two dishes at reasonable prices.
  • A tyre service is on hand at all times. Further information under www.slicks.eu
  • The pit area consists of 34 pitboxes. Each pitbox has a toilet. The pitboxes are 6 by 12 metres. They are separated by wire mesh.
  • Warning - extreme noise limit: max. 88 dBA at full acceleration on drive-by. Measurements are taken right at the edge of the track and throughout the whole event. Only motorcycles with standard air filters and standard exhaust systems are allowed on the track. ABE systems are not permitted, even if they are not louder than the standard system. Please note: a standard production Suzuki GSXR 1000 K5 with Yoshimura exhaust may sadly not be ridden here at all.

Directions:

The track can be reached either via the Gera - Chemnitz motorway, taking the exit Hohenstein-Ernstthal or from the south via the Hof-Chemnitz motorway, taking the Stollberg exit and then continuing towards Lugau and Hohenstein-Ernstthal. The VSZ Sachsenring is situated in the industrial park of Oberlungwitz. Please follow the signs for VSZ Sachsenring. Important: the paddock is situated above the starting tower, not under the cart hall!
