Originally the plan was just to built a road safety centre. Now, on this site near Hohenstein-Ernstthal (near Chemnitz), the German heat for the moto-GP has been held here very successfully for some years.
Up to two years ago, the whole pit area was only set up for the German Grand Prix. The rest of the time this area was used for safety training practice runs. Like the pit area, the Grand Prix course too was only available for the motorcycle world championship and the DTM.
Now, for the last couple of years the redesigned 3800 metre-long GP course has been available to us. The pit area with paddock is new and excellent. What is special about the Sachsenring is the steep inclines and drops. Slow “endless” bends and then the new very fast track section. In the whole moto-GP circus there is no track with steeper drops than those here at Sachsenring. For many this is the longest left-hand bend in the world, for others simply the coolest track in Germany.
We hold instruction and perfection trainings at Sachsenring.
The track can be reached either via the Gera - Chemnitz motorway, taking the exit Hohenstein-Ernstthal or from the south via the Hof-Chemnitz motorway, taking the Stollberg exit and then continuing towards Lugau and Hohenstein-Ernstthal. The VSZ Sachsenring is situated in the industrial park of Oberlungwitz. Please follow the signs for VSZ Sachsenring. Important: the paddock is situated above the starting tower, not under the cart hall!
